While Paradise Point is usually known for its epic waterfront playground, there is a smaller but just as enjoyable experience just down the road – and generally, away from the crowds! Jabiru Island Park is a popular spot with the boaties and fishermen, but also makes for a wonderful spot for an outing with the family.
The facilities available at Jabiru Island Park include picnic tables under shelters, electric barbeques, a modern toilet block and plenty of bike friendly paths. If your kids are interested in dropping in a line to see what they can catch, there are plenty of sheltered shoreline spots and a few jetty and boardwalk options to try.
This park protects a small remnant of wallum heath, a plant community that was once common along the Sunshine Coast. Vividly coloured heath wildflowers reach their peak flowering time in late winter and spring months.
On the park’s short walks look for colourful honeyeaters and enjoy views of the creek, lake and ocean beach. Beside the ocean on the Sunshine Coast, just 6.5km north of Caloundra, and approximately 100km drive north of Brisbane.
Popular for board riding, long beach walks and getting close to nature. Patrolled seasonally. Lifeguard tower located at Beach Access 248. Beach Access points 247 - 253. Wurtulla Beach is patrolled during the summer months and school holidays. There is a playground and public amenities located at Dorothy Anderson Park Beach Access point 248 near Tallawa Place.
There are beach showers located at Beach Access points 247 - 252. Beach access point 253 is located at the mouth of Currimundi Creek in the Currimundi Lake (Kathleen McArthur) Conservation Reserve.
Moondara Park in Wurtulla is located at the end of Tokara Canal. Access via Moondara Drive and Park Haven Drive. The park provides a playground and an exercise equipment area.
The playground is located on the western side of the park with views of the canal. It is sheltered by shade sails and can be easily accessed via a pedestrian pathway. The exercise equipment area is located on the other side of the park, on the eastern side. It too has views of the canal and a connecting pedestrian pathway.
There is plenty of natural shade throughout the park and picnic tables strategically placed to take in the surrounds. There is plenty of open space grassed areas provided for kick and throw activities.
Nestled along the shores of Currimundi Lake, Crummunda Park is loved by locals for its abundance of natural shade, cool breeze, playground and picnic areas. The naturally shaded park along Currimundi Lake provides a playground with various elements such as a multi-level fort and flying fox. It also contains exercise equipment and a half basketball court.
There are various accesses to the water, some via a jetty for trying your hand at fishing. Crummunda Park is also a popular location for wedding ceremonies
Pilates mat classes uniquely set in a beautiful open-air space. Sessions are kept small to a maximum of 6-8 people and are suitable to both men and women and all types of bodies and ages. While all classes are low-impact, you will be able to modify exercises to better suit your needs by taking a more gentle or a more advanced modification.
